Had a few German couch surfers a few months back who were on their way to Detroit. I never knew about the ruins! It sounds like an awesome place to explore.

We got to talking and my old roommate (who grew up in Detroit) told us that knew three couples (an artist commune) who bought a block in down town Detroit. They share back yards and keep the outsides of their homes decrepit so as not to attract attention. It’s not very safe. It’s kinda like they are living in a zombie apocalypse. You have to learn certain survival skills. It sounds incredible.
